Hope Softball Falls In First Game Of MIAA Doubleheader To Alma

Rightfielder Sammi Adams of Griffith, Indiana (Griffith HS) scored a run and collected a hit for the Hope College softball team in an 8-1 loss to 16th-ranked Alma on Wednesday.

The second game of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning because of unplayable conditions. Alma was leading 4-2.

The Flying Dutch are now 9-6 on the season and 0-1 in MIAA play.

Per MIAA rules, the suspended Hope-Alma game will be completed at the next available day. It is tentatively scheduled to be restarted Thursday, March 31 at 5 p.m.

The Hope-Manchester doubleheader originally scheduled for March 31 has been postponed. No makeup date has been determined.

In the first game, Adams scored Hope's run by doubling in the sixth inning and scoring on an Alma throwing error following a grounder by shortstop Jenna Maury of Lawton, Michigan (Lawton HS).

Alma (16-6, 3-0 MIAA) broke open the game with a four-run second.
