Trine's Searles, Robles Named MIAA Players of the Week in Softball

The MIAA  has named Trine outfielder Carly Searles its Position Player of the Week and Trine righthander Justine Robles its Pitcher of the Week in softball for games played through April 19.

Position Player of the Week
Searles, a senior from Levering (Petoskey HS), went a perfect 14-for-14 at the plate, reached base on all 16 of her plate appearances (including two walks), scored 11 runs and knocked in six as the MIAA-leading  Thunder won four straight games for the week. She went 7-for-7 with a home run, triple, two doubles, five runs scored and five RBI as Trine swept Albion, 9-1 and 18-1. Searles’ current streak of 15 consecutive at-bats with a hit is the second-longest in NCAA Division III history and two away from the national record of 17. She is being honored as Position Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time in her career.

Pitcher of the Week
Robles, a junior from Long Beach, Calif. (Lakewood HS), posted a 2-0 record with a 0.78 earned run average, allowing only four hits over nine innings, in winning Pitcher of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. She fired a two-hitter and struck out eight over six innings in blanking Olivet, 10-0. Robles is being honored as Pitcher of the Week for the second time in her career.
