Alma's Zill, Trine's Robles Named MIAA Softball Players of the Week

The MIAA has named Alma outfielder Marie Zill its Position Player of the Week and Trine righthander Justine Robles its Pitcher of the Week in softball for games played through April 12.

Position Player of the Week
Zill, a senior from Chelsea (Chelsea HS), hit .684 (13-for-19), including two triples, scored seven runs and drove in five as she led the Scots to a 5-1 record in MIAA play for the week. She went 5-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Calvin, 6-0 and 7-3, and 3-for-4 with a triple in a 12-2 win over Adrian. Zill is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Pitcher of the Week
Robles, a junior from Long Beach, Calif. (Lakewood HS), posted a 3-0 record for the week, striking out 14 batters in 14 innings of work. She struck out eight and allowed only two hits in four shutout innings in a 29-0 MIAA win over Calvin, and limited the nation’s leading home run hitting team to one run over the first six innings in an 8-4 nonconference win over Case Western Reserve, Ohio. Robles is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
