Trine's Searles, Fox Named Softball All-Americans

Trine outfielder Carly Searles has been named an NCAA Division III softball first team All-American for the third time in her career, and teammate Kaylee Fox was named to the All-American third team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.

The All-America announcement from the NFCA came the day before the start of the Division III national championships, which begin Thursday in Salem, Va.

Searles (pictured left), a senior from Levering (Petoskey HS), was the MIAA's Most Valuable Position Player this season as she led the Thunder to their fourth straight conference championship. She led the MIAA in batting with a .608 average in league play. Overall, she hit .523 with nine home runs, 10 triples, 36 RBI, 31 stolen bases and 75 runs scored. A first-team All-American in 2013 and 2014, Searles graduated as the MIAA's career leader in batting average at .505, and also holds career marks for hits and triples. She also finished as the Division III all-time leader in hits (306), runs (261) and triples (48).

Fox (pictured right), a freshman from Vermilion, Ohio (Edison HS), hit .405 with 16 home runs and 55 runs batted in for the season for Trine. She tied an MIAA single-season record with nine home runs in conference play and also led the league in RBIs with 28.
