Ten From MIAA Named NFCA All-Region, Four On First Team

Ten MIAA players, including six from conference champion Trine, have received All-Central Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Four players – Trine outfielder Carly Searles, Trine pitcher Justine Robles, Alma pitcher Morgan Stratton and Trine first baseman Kaylee Fox – received first team All-Region honors and are now under consideration for the NFCA Division III All-America team, which will be announced May 21.

Searles (pictured top left), a senior from Levering (Petoskey HS) was the MIAA's Most Valuable Position Player this season. She led the MIAA in batting with a .608 average, and graduated as the MIAA's career leader in batting average, hits and triples. She also finished as the NCAA Division III all-time leader in hits (306), runs (261) and triples (48).

Robles (pictured top left center), a junior from Long Beach, Calif. (Lakewood HS), was the MIAA's Most Valuable Pitcher this season.  She posted a 17-3 record this season with a 2.24 earned run average. In MIAA play, she led the conference in pitching victories with eight and struck out 61 batters in 51-1/3 innings.

Stratton (pictured top right center), a sophomore from Grand Blanc (Grand Blanc HS), has a 17-7 record this season with a 1.65 earned run aveage. In MIAA play, she led the conference in earned run average with a 0.36 ERA (3 earned runs in 58 innings) and struck out 63 batters. She pitched all 22 innings for the Scots in their run to the NCAA regional championship over the weekend, allowing only seven hits and one run.

Fox (pictured top right), a freshman from Vermilion, Ohio (Edison HS), hit .411 with 16 home runs and 55 runs batted in for the season. She tied an MIAA single-season record with nine home runs in conference play and also led the league in RBIs with 28.

Second team All-Region selections from the MIAA included Hope's Autumn Anderson and Julie Sobieski, along with Trine's Jamie Schnarr. Third team selections were Trine's Kaitlyn Clark and Leah Hall, along with Hope's Sierra Mutschler.
