Alma Softball Takes On Lake Forest In NCAA Super Regional

The Alma softball team continues its run in the NCAA Division III tournament Friday as the Scots open a best-of-3 super regional at Lake Forest, Ill.

The Scots (28-15) advanced to the super regional by winning the regional at Illinois Wesleyan last weekend, taking all three of their contests while allowing their opponents to score only one run in 22 innings. Alma capped the tournament with an 8-0 victory over Simpson, Iowa.

The Foresters had to battle out of the losers' bracket to win their own regional last weekend, knocking off Hope twice, 4-1 and 2-0, to win the tournament.

The super regional begins with a 5 p.m. contest on Friday, and continues Saturday with a 2 p.m. game. Should a third game be necessary, that would be played at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Last year, MIAA member Trine won its super regional over Emory, Ga., to reach the national championship round.
