Nine MIAA Men's Cross Country Student-Athletes and Eight Programs Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Eight men's cross country teams and nine individuals from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with academic honors on Thursday, January 26.

Team awards were given to all eight MIAA men's cross country programs:  Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Calvin University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College, Olivet College, and Trine University.  Olivet led the league with a grade-point average of 3.71.

Overall, there were 189 programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2022 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

Additionally, the MIAA was represented by nine men's cross country individuals on the 2022 NCAA DIII All-Academic Athletes list.

Overall, there were 320 men from 119 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Calvin had four student-athletes on the Men's All-Academic list, including Nick Henz, William Hofmann, Brandan Knepper, and Luke Witvliet.  Trine was represented by Noah Acker and Zach Brickler.  Adrian's Robert Diebold, Hope's Connor Vachon, and Olivet's Chris Davis also earned All-Academic status from the USTFCCCA.
