MIAA Men's Cross Country Programs Compete at NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship

HOLLAND, Mich. -- The eight men's cross programs from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) competed at the 2022 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship on Saturday, November 12, at the Three Fires Golf Club in Holland, Michigan.

Calvin University senior Brandan Knepper led the MIAA runners in the 8K with a fifth-place finish (24:28.5), followed by Hope College sophomore and 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Runner Connor Vachon in eighth place (24:33.7).

Next up from the conference was Calvin sophomore Nicholas Henz in 23rd place with a time of 24:53.3.  Sophomore teammate Thaine Nederveld completed the race in 28th place after clocking in at 24:58.6 and was trailed by Hope senior Anders Bogard in 36th place (25:07.2).

Calvin senior William Hofmann (42nd - 25:16.6), sophomore teammate Luke Witvliet (43rd - 25:16.7), junior Knight Eric Swinson (48th - 25:18.7), and Olivet junior Chris Davis (49th - 25:19.4) all finished the 8K in the top 50.

Calvin finished the NCAA Regional meet in fifth place with 139 points, followed by Hope in seventh place with 241 points and Trine in 11th place with 344 points.  Adrian (619 points) and Olivet (704 points) also finished in the top 30.

The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship selection show will take place on Sunday, November 13, at www.ncaa.com.
