10 MIAA Men's Cross Country Student-Athletes and Seven Programs Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Seven men's cross country teams and 10 individuals from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with academic honors on Thursday, January 27.

Team awards were given to Albion College, Alma College, Calvin University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College, Olivet College, and Trine University.  Hope led the league with a grade-point average of 3.42.

Overall, there were 137 programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

Additionally, the MIAA was represented by 10 men's cross country individuals on the 2021 NCAA DIII All-Academic Athletes list.

There were 248 men from 91 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Calvin had six student-athletes on the Men's All-Academic list, including Noah Cummisford, Nicholas Henz, William Hofmann, Brandan Knepper, Ryan Vreeke, and Luke Witvliet.  Hope was represented by Nicholas Hoffman and Connor Vachon.  Adrian's Robert Diebold and Trine's Noah Acker also earned All-Academic status from the USTFCCCA.
