INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Calvin University squad and Hope College's Nick Hoffman will represent the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) at the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 20, at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
Calvin was selected at-large to compete for the championship title following a fourth-place finish (120) at the 2021 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship on Saturday, November 13, at the Blue River CC Course in Shelbyville, Indiana.
The Knights were led by the MIAA's 2021 Most Valuable Runner, Brandan Knepper. Knepper concluded the race in ninth place with a time of 24:51.5. Three-time All-MIAA honoree Ryan Vreeke was the next Calvin runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 25:19.9 for 18th place. Noah Cummisford, a 2021 First Team All-MIAA runner, concluded the race in 28th place (25:36.7) and was followed by Second Team All-MIAA recipient Nicholas Henz in 29th (25:39.5). First Team All-MIAA honoree William Hofmann clocked in at 25:48.1. First Team All-MIAA runner Eric Swinson (25:59.4) and Second Team All-MIAA recipient Luke Witvliet (26:01.6) finished back-to-back to round out the Knights' roster.
Hope's Nick Hoffman led the league with a fifth-place finish on Saturday, assisting the Flying Dutchmen to ninth place (303) and their best regional finish since 2016. Hoffman, a two-time All-MIAA runner, clocked in at 24:47.5 to punch his ticket into the NCAA Championship this Saturday.
