Around the MIAA

Adrian

The Adrian College men’s cross country team ran at the Mike Woods Open last week in Mt. Morris, N.Y. and finished in 14th place. Freshman Robert Diebold led the Bulldogs and finished 32nd with a time of 26:51.6. Diebold was followed by senior Clayton Lange who ran a 27:53.1 for 79th place.


No. 25 Albion

Entered in a field against Division I talent from Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State and Texas A&M, as well as some of the best from Division III, Albion College held its own in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational. While the timing system didn't record Kiehl Smith, the junior from Jonesville, Mich., was Albion's leading runner. He reached the finish in 25:36. Andrew Wittland wasn't far behind at 25:52.


Alma

Did not compete.


No. 8 Calvin

Calvin moved up to No. 8 in the USTFCCCA Division III Top 35 rankings and then made a move at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational on Friday. Calvin won the Gold Division of the Joe Piane Invite on Friday with a team score of 80, placing six runners in the top 27 spots. Junior Tyler Johnson led the way for Calvin by placing 11th place individually.


Hope

The Hope College men's cross country team chose to race up a level at the Greater Louisville Classic, and the results pleased head coach Mark Northuis. The Flying Dutchmen finished 31st in the 45-team Blue Division that primarily featured NCAA Division II teams. Senior Nathan Schloff led Hope with a time of 26 minutes, 4.1 seconds.


Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team finished 29th in the Silver Division of the Louisville Classic last Saturday. Caleb Patton posted the top time for the Hornets (29:24) to finish 147th overall in the 8K event. Preston Grossling was three seconds and three places behind Patton with a time of 29:27. Sam Meyer came in 173rd with a time of 30:00. Kalamazoo returns to action next Friday, Oct. 5 at the Lansing Invitational.


Olivet

Did not compete. Olivet runs at the Lansing Community College Invitational this Friday.
