MIAA Men's Cross Country Runners Garner Regional, National Honors

Ten Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's cross country runners representing three programs received all-region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in November.

Adrian's Robert Diebold, Albion's Kiehl Smith and Andrew Wittland, and Calvin's Jonathan Ellis, Caleb Ferguson, Tyler Johnson, Jamison Koeman, Jacob Pettinga, Addison Smith, and Justin Varineau were among the top 35 individual finishers at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Nov. 10 in Franklin, Ind.

Along with the runners, Calvin coach Brian Diemer was named the 2018 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year for the second time in three years and 13th time in his 33-year career.

Following the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship Nov. 17, Calvin's Addison Smith earned All-America honors for finishing 34th overall.
