INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On Friday, the NCAA announced the selections for the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for May 26-28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Five MIAA programs will send at least one competitor to the national event. Albion will be represented by two athletes competing at the NCAA Championships, while Adrian, Hope, Olivet, and Trine will have one athlete.
Trine junior Jake Gladieux was seeded in the top six for two different events. He will compete as the No. 4 seed in the 400m hurdles and as the sixth seed in the 110m hurdles.
The 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Track Athlete, Adrian senior Derek Plitt, will compete in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash.
Olivet junior Jordon Brown has been seeded eighth in the 400m prelims with a time of 47.42.
Albion sophomore Derrelle Murray will participate in the shot put event, while junior teammate Mason Darden will compete in the hammer throw.
Senior Nick Hoffman will represent the Flying Dutchmen in the 1500m run.
For each men’s individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
