MIAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes Recognized by USTFCCCA with 22 All-Region Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- On June 22, men's outdoor track and field student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) received a total of 22 All-Region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Assocation (USTFCCCA).

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Overall, there were 11 men’s programs that earned 20 or more All-Region honors for their efforts during the 2022 outdoor season.

Six student-athletes from Calvin University were named to the All-Great Lakes Team, followed by Trine University with five athletes.  Albion College is represented by three All-Region honorees, while Hope has two on the Great Lakes Region list.  Adrian and Olivet each have one All-Region athlete.

Four MIAA student-athletes earned regional recognition in two different events, including:  Adrian's Derek Plitt, Albion's Trevor Knowles, Hope's Nick Hoffman, and Trine's Jake Gladieux.

Plitt was selected as the 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Men's Track Athlete following his performance at the conference meet.  Plitt concluded the season nationally ranked as No. 16 in the 200m dash (21.25) and tied-for-20th in the 100m dash (10.49).  He is the 2022 MIAA champion in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash.

Knowles was voted the 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Men's Field Athlete after notching victories in both the triple jump and the long jump at the 2022 MIAA Championships.  He is 46th in the nation for the triple jump (14.15m) and tied-for-49th in the long jump with a leap of 7.05m.

Hoffman notched a victory in the 1500m run at the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.  He is tied-for-13th in Division III with a time of 3:47.31 in the 1500m run and is ranked 34th in the 800m run (1:51.99).

Gladieux was tabbed an All-American for the third time in his career following a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles (14.31) at the national meet.  He was deemed the MIAA champion in both the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles this season.  Gladieux is tied-for-third nationally in the 400m hurdles (52.37) and is No. 6 in the 110m hurdles (14.26).
