Around the MIAA
No. 16 Adrian
The Adrian College men’s track and field team had a solid showing at the Tiffleberg Open on Saturday, with two events moving into the top-five in the nation. Daz Lawrence moved into fifth in the nation with a high jump of 6’9” and the 4x100 team posted the fastest time in the nation, with a 41.16. The team returns all four runners from last year’s All-American team and are poised to make another run at a championship. Saturday’s performance propelled Adrian to No. 16 in the USTFCCCA D3 National Rating Index this week.
Albion
Albion College collected 75 points to finish fifth in the Marv Frye Invitational. Kejuan Fraizer won the shot put with a PR of 51’ 5.75". It ties Fraizer for ninth on the Division III performance list at this point of the season. Jephte Jean-Claude led the jumpers winning the 110-meter hurdles (15.36) and sailed 44’ 8.25”, good for second place in the triple jump. Aaron Weimer achieved a collegiate best (15:30.86) in winning the 5,000 meters. Kiehl Smith scored third place in the 800 (1:56.86).

Calvin
Calvin competed at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State University last weekend. Senior James Jeninga had a huge afternoon, clocking in with a career-best time of 1:53.81 in the 800 meters. The time ranks sixth on the NCAA Division III outdoor performance list. Senior Luke Peterson (Holland, Mich.) also ran well in the 800 meters, recording a career-best time of 1:55.34. Jeninga and Peterson both ran on Calvin's 4x400 meter relay team that recorded a season-best time of 3:25.37. Junior Sam Veenstra came up with a career-best time of 56.19 in the 400 meter hurdles that currently ranks as the top time in the MIAA this spring.
Hope
Josh Izenbart and Owen Ljung both clocked winning performances to lead the Hope College men's outdoor track & field team to a third-place finish at the 15-team Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday. Izenbart, a junior from Glenwood, Illinois, won the 110-meter hurdle final in 15.60 seconds. Ljung, a junior from Sonoma Valley, California, clocked a first-place, 800-meter run of 1:54.08. The Flying Dutchmen totaled 82 points to finish 4.5 points ahead of fourth-place Wheaton.
Olivet
The Olivet College men's track and field team competed Friday and Saturday at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational. On Friday, Noah Bailey finished second in the triple jump. Olivet's top finisher on the track was Mark Smith who was eighth in the unseeded 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:35.75. Several other student-athletes achieved personal-bests in their events.

Competed at the unscored Taylor University George Glass Invitational...Jonathan Phillips won the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:03.22...Nicholas Gerber won the hammer throw with a distance of 176' 0.00".
