Two Calvin men's track and field student-athletes turned in three All-America performances at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 25-27.
Calvin sprinter Ethan Valentine notched the best qualifying time in the 400m Dash on Friday with a time of 46.80 to set a Calvin program record and a SPIRE facility record. Valentine then finished second in the championship race on Saturday, crossing in 47.17.
Calvin's Andrew Philipose started with a seventh-place finish in the 10,000m Run Thursday, crossing the line in 30:16.66, one of seven times that improved on the facility record for the event. Philipose then followed with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000m Run on Saturday to double up on All-America honors.
Hope's Nick Salomon appeared in the 800m Run championship race Saturday, finishing ninth with a time of 1:52.85 and just out of All-America status after qualifying Friday with a time of 1:51.48, which was third-best in the field.
