Eight MIAA Student-Athletes Punch Ticket to 2024 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On Sunday, March 3, the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants in the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) will be represented by eight individuals at the national event which will be held March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Norfolk State University serving as host.

On the men's side, both senior Jordon Brown of The University of Olivet and Trine University senior Jake Gladieux will be representing the MIAA in two events each.  Brown and Gladieux will both race in the 200m dash.  Brown will be competing at the fourth-seeded runner with a seed time of 21.26, while Gladieux is tied-for-ninth in seeding with a time of 21.57.  Gladieux also punched his ticket into the 60m hurdles and is tied-for-seventh in seeding with a time of 7.99.  Brown will be competing in the 400m dash as the eleventh seed (47.73).

The Comets will also be sending freshman DeVondre Chandler as the lone field qualifier from the MIAA.  At his first national meet, Chandler is tied-for-eighteenth in the high jump with a seed mark of 2.04m.

Senior Eli Meder will represent Hope College on the national stage.  In the 800m run, Meder is tied-for-ninth in the seeding with a time of 1:50.81.

On the women's side, both Albion College senior Avery Campbell and Hope sophomore Sara Schermerhorn each qualified for two events.  The two MIAA runners will compete in the 200m dash.  Schermerhorn is seeded fourth in the event with a time of 24.53 and Campbell qualified with a time of 24.93 as the fifteenth seed.  Schermerhorn will also be racing as the eighth seed in the 400m dash (56.24), while Campbell tied-for-twelfth seed in the 60m dash (7.66).

The Flying Dutch will additionally be represented by senior Rebecca Markham as the fifteenth seed in the 5000m run.  Markham's seed time is 17:03.63.

Adrian College senior Emme Koutz rounds out the eight qualifiers as the sixteenth seed in the 800m run (2:12.30).
