All-MIAA - Indoor Track & Field - 2024

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- On Wednesday, February 28, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced the indoor track and field student-athletes who secured All-MIAA honors following the 2024 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Senior Jordon Brown of The University of Olivet was voted the MIAA Most Valuable Men's Track Athlete for the second-consecutive season following his performance at the conference meet.  Brown earned championship titles in two track events and one field event last Saturday.  Brown notched a victory in the 200m dash with a time of 21.64 and earned a win in the 400m dash after clocking in at 48.79.  His time in the 200m dash broke both the MIAA record and the Olivet record, along with currently ranking him fourth in the NCAA.  Brown also won the long jump with a leap of 6.89m.

Hope College sophomore Sara Schermerhorn was named the 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Women's Track Athlete this year after assisting the Flying Dutch to the MIAA Championship title with her record-breaking performances.  Schermerhorn set three MIAA records at the meet and won three events: the 200m dash (24.91), the 400m dash (58.49), and the 4x400m relay (4:02.20).  Her split running alone in the 4x400m relay was 56.5.  Schermerhorn is ranked third in the nation in the 200m dash, ninth in the country in the 400m dash, and 26th in the 60m dash.

Junior Ethan Spahr of Trine University is now a two-time MIAA Most Valuable Men's Field Athlete after helping the Thunder to their fifth-straight championship title.  Spahr scored 26 points for Trine in the field.  He won the triple jump with a leap of 13.36m to break his own school record.  Spahr also placed second in both the long jump (6.79m) and the high jump (1.98m).  His performance in the high jump event tied Trine's school record.

Albion College junior Tess Anthony earned the title of 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Women's Field Athlete after serving as the only double winner in the women's field events over the weekend.  Anthony won the shot put with a throw of 12.43m and tossed 15.62m in the weight throw to defend her championship title.  Her 20 points were the most scored in the women's field events.
