HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- On Wednesday, March 1, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced the indoor track and field student-athletes who secured All-MIAA honors following the 2023 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Hope senior Ana Tucker became a two-time MIAA Most Valuable Women's Track Athlete this year after assisting the Flying Dutch to the MIAA Championship title with her record-breaking performances. Tucker broke her previous record of 4:57.92 in the mile run from 2021 by over four seconds (4:53.20).
Olivet senior Jordon Brown was voted the 2023 MIAA Most Valuable Men's Track Athlete following his performance at the conference meet. Brown earned championship titles in two events on Saturday: the 200m dash (22.07) and the 400m dash (49.33). The Comet earned a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.45m. Brown also assisted Olivet to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay (3:28.04).
Senior Gabby Jolliff of Olivet earned the championship title in the pole vault after tying the MIAA record of 3.30m. The other 3.30m performance occurred in 2018 by Comet Michaela Kaliniak.
Sophomore Ethan Spahr of Trine won the championship title in the the long jump with a leap of 6.65m. Spahr also earned a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (12.76m) and a fifth-place finish in the high jump (1.86m).
