Trine's Seth Ware Recognized as Great Lakes Men's Assistant Coach of the Year; MIAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Earns 18 USTFCCCA All-Region Accolades in 2022

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Thirteen men's indoor track and field student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) received All-Great Lakes Region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on March 8, 2022.  The student-athletes totaled 18 All-Region honors.  In addition, Trine's Seth Ware was named the Great Lakes Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Hope senior Nick Hoffman earned three All-Great Lakes Region honors, which included two individual events (800m run, mile) and one relay (distance medley relay).  Hoffman was the top-regional performer in the 800m run.

Adrian senior Derek Plitt, Albion senior Trevor Knowles, and Hope freshman Connor Vachon each received two regional accolades.  As the top-regional performer, Plitt earned regional recognition in the 60m dash.  He was also named to the All-Region team in the 200m dash.  Knowles was the top-regional performer in the long jump and also reached regional status in the triple jump.  Vachon earned All-Great Lakes Region honors in both the 800m run and the distance medley relay.

Trine's Seth Ware is in his fourth season as assistant coach for the Thunder.  Six of his athletes are in the top-10 regionally, including junior Jake Gladieux who is the top-regional performer in the 60m hurdles and ranked ninth in the nation.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region’s top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
