Trine University won its third-straight MIAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship title on February 26, 2022, at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. The Thunder finished with a total of 208 points, followed by Calvin in second place with 115 points and Albion in third place with 85.5 points.
The Thunder totaled seven individual wins over the course of the competition. Jake Gladieux notched a victory in the 400m dash (50.25) and defended his title in the 60m hurdles (8.17). Joseph Packard clocked in at 15:13.43 for a first-place finish in the 5000m run. Theo Samra swept the shot put (14.65m) and weight throw (17.19m) competition for the Thunder. In the high jump, Greyson Spohn jumped a high of 1.95m for the top spot, while teammate Ben Williams claimed the long jump victory (6.86m).
Calvin's Brandan Knepper broke the previous 3000m record from 2021 by over seven seconds with a time of 8:31.75. Morrison Ismond notched a victory in the 800m run with a time of 1:56.89. The Knights earned the 4x400m relay championship after finishing with a time of 3:25.77. The winning quartet included Matthew Vos, Lucas VanderPloeg, Corbin DeBoer, and Morrison Ismond.
Adrian's Derek Plitt had a record-breaking day in both the 60m dash (6.79) and the 200m dash (21.91). Both records were previously held by an Adrian student-athlete from 2019. Cameron Overmyer jumped 4.50m for the No. 1 spot in the pole vault.
Nick Hoffman of Hope defended the championship title in the mile run with a time of 4:17.31.
Albion's Trevor Knowles clinched the win in the triple jump with a leap of 13.76m.
Olivet earned the top finish in the distance medley relay after finishing with a time of 10:45.63. The winning quartet included Chase Mendham, Zac Schneck, Hunter Hillard, and Hayden Germain.
