Albion

Albion College had the top performer in three events in the field and it finished second in another as it started the men’s indoor track & field season by finishing second out of six teams in the Robert H. Johnson Open. Wabash College, the host of the meet, was first with 95 points to finish 24 points ahead of the Britons. Marcus Freeman went 45’ 1” on his final attempt to win the triple jump competition. Albion reaped 13 points in the event as Trevor Knowles finished third and Jared Council was fifth. Albion gained 11 points in the weight throw with Xavier Aikens winning the event at 51’ 10”. Harlan Pfefferle was fourth and Kejuan Frazier was sixth. Frazier, Pfefferle and Mason Darden combined to place 10 points in Albion’s column in the in shot put. Frazier popped a throw of 51’ 7 ¼” on his first attempt. Pfefferle was fifth and Darden was sixth. Jeffrey Davis was the runner up in the long jump, sailing 20’ 6 ½” on his third attempt. Knowles cleared 5’ 10 ¾” to finish third in the high jump. On the track, Albion scored 10 points in the 3,000 meters as Alex Harrell raced to a runner up finish and Noah Flint and Paul Sutton came in fourth and fifth, respectively. Brady Fraser and Jared Council combined to produce seven points in the 60-meter dash and Kaheem Wright and Edgar Zarate combined for seven points in the mile run.

Alma

The Scots traveled to Saginaw Valley State University on Friday (Dec. 6). The meet served as the indoor season opener for the Scots. The meet consisted of mostly NAIA and NCAA Division II schools. Senior Luke Reed (Benzonia, Mich.) finished in fourth place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:13.81.


Calvin

Did not compete.


Hope

Josh Izenbart and Nathan Woolum recorded the top performances for the Hope College men's indoor track and field team on Friday at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open. The first indoor of the season for the Flying Dutchmen featured competitors from all three NCAA divisions and NAIA. Izenbart placed 17th in the 60-meter hurdles. The senior from Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) clocked a time of 9.20 seconds. Woolum finished 17th in the 400 meters. The freshman from Mattawan, Michigan (Mattawan) posted a time of 51.49 seconds.


Olivet

Did not compete.


Trine

Began indoor season at unscored University of Indianapolis Season Opener...sophomore Josh Davis placed second in the 60-meter dash (7.08 seconds) and also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.06 seconds)...senior Jacob Root placed fourth in the 60m (7.13 seconds) and sixth in the 200m (23.06 seconds)...Noah McClellan and senior Mitch Martin posted a pair of third-place finishes in the field events...McClellan placed third in the long jump (20' 5.75") and Martin was third in the weight throw (55' 9.25").
