Around the MIAA

Adrian

The Bulldogs competed in the Midwest Classic hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. Jumper Nicholas Jackson continued his impressive start to the season by winning the high jump event for the third straight meet. Sprinters Donovan Ervin and Derek Plitt finished second and third in the 200-meter dash and Denzel Tinsley and Jordan Davis finished second and third in the 60-meter hurdles. Tinsley set a new PR in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.25.


No. 44 Albion

Aaron Weimer and Adam Ditri were the first two athletes to complete the mile run in the Midwest Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University.


Alma

Did not compete. The Scots return to action Friday, Feb. 8 at the Aquinas College Little Meet.


Calvin

Hope

Three indoor Hope College men’s track & field records fell on Saturday at the University of Chicago’s Windy City Invitational. Senior Ben Turner (Albion, Mich.) bettered his own school record in the pole vault. Senior Justin Freeman (Holland, Mich.) improved his previous best in the 60 meters. Junior Josh Izenbart (Glenwood, Ill.) passed his old mark in the heptathlon. The Flying Dutchmen finished third out of 12 teams with 82.5 points.


Olivet

The Olivet College men's indoor track & field team finished 12th at the Hillsdale College "Wide Track Classic." Freshman Kyle McDowell completed the 800-meter run in 2:00.19 to finish first of 28 runners in the event. Freshman Kyle Markley placed third in the 3,000-meter run (9:19.49). Junior Noah Bailey was fourth in the long jump (21 feet, 9 inches).


No. 34 Trine

Trine placed seventh out of 20 teams at the Hillsdale (Mich.) College Wide-Track Classic on Fri-Sat. (Feb. 1-2). Jeffery Barnett captured the long jump event with a distance of 22' 7" to lead the Thunder.
