Calvin's Tyler Johnson was a two-time distance winner for the Knights. With an MIAA title already in hand after winning the 1-Mile run, Johnson won the 3000m run with an MIAA-record time of 8:48.83 in the penultimate race to help lift the Knights.

Joining Johnson in winning distance races for Calvin were James Jeninga (800m, 1:56.44) and Jamison Koeman (500m run, 15:31.58). Rounding out Calvin's even winners was Brendan Van Houten in the weight throw (17.22m).

Along with Johnson's MIAA record, five more records fell during Saturday's action, including three by Adrian: Jordan Davis became the first-ever MIAA Indoor Track & Field athlete to win four consecutive titles on one event with his record-setting time of 8.03 seconds in the 60m hurdles, while teammate Randolph Fry took the 60m dash and 200m dash with record-breaking times of 6.85 seconds and 22.31 seconds, respectively.

Women's Recap

Trine benefitted from four individual wins, including two by Evonne Bultemeyer in the distance races, as the Thunder captured the 2019 MIAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday.

Bultemeyer's wins in the 800m and 3000m runs bolstered the Thunder late; also winning MIAA titles were teammates Jensyn Garrow in the 400m dash (1:00.01) and Andrea Hagar in the weight throw (15.10m).

In the 800m run, which proved to be one of the deepest and most exciting races of the day, Bultemeyer stretched past Calvin's Katie Diekema and Albion's Cassie Vince to win with an MIAA record time of 2:17.20; Diekema placed second in 2:17.40, while Vince was third in 2:17.69. The win was the second consecutive in the 800 for Bultemeyer and gave Trine their first team lead of the day, which the Thunder would not relenquish.

Bultemeyer then won the women's penultimate event, the 3000m run with a time of 10:33.70.

Albion's Layla Wilks won both the 60m and 200m dashes for the second consecutive year, with her time of 7.91 setting an MIAA record. Wilks, who ran the 200m in 26.10 Saturday, also has the MIAA record in that event after running 25.69 last year.

Two individuals tied MIAA records on the way to their event wins: Olivet's Lillian Albaugh in the shot put (13.39m) and Hope's Addyson Gerig in the high jump (1.56m).
