Kalamazoo College claimed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Tennis Tournament title once again after a 5-3 victory Hope College on Saturday, April 29.

Hope opened up the competition with a 2-1 edge in doubles matches.  At No. 1 doubles, Flying Dutchmen Jacob Burkett and Cameron Coates earned an 8-7 (8-6) tiebreak win versus Peter Fitzgerald and Gabe Vidinas.  Kalamazoo's Casey Johnson and Adnan Alousi notched an 8-7 (7-2) victory over Matt Henkel and Tyler Stafford.  At the third doubles flight, Hope's Justin Fay and John Voss won 8-4 against Louis Landreau and Parker Foster.

The No. 1 singles match between 2023 MIAA Most Valuable Player Gabe Vidinas of Kalamazoo and Hope's Jacob Burkett went unfinished when the Hornets clinched the win.

At No. 2 singles, Kalamazoo's Peter Fitzgerald notched a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Tyler Stafford.

Adnan Alousi won his No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-2 against Hope's Cameron Coates.

Hornet Casey Johnson earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles versus Matt Henkel.

Louis Landreau widened the gap in the second set to secure a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 win against Hope's Austin Becksvoort.

Justin Fay tallied the lone singles point for the Flying Dutchmen with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Alek Hultberg at No. 6 singles.

The Hornets receive the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship which will be held May 13-21 at the USTA National Campus (Collegiate Center) in Orlanda, Florida.  The men's tennis teams selection show is scheduled for Monday, May 1, at 12:30 p.m.  The press release announcing qualifying individuals will be announced on Wednesday, May 3.
