Kalamazoo held on to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Tennis Tournament title after a 5-2 win against Hope on Friday, May 6.

No. 2 doubles duo Casey Johnson and Adnan Alousi tallied the lone doubles point for the Hornets with an 8-2 victory over the Flying Dutchmen.  At No. 1 doubles, Cameron Coates and Jacob Burkett clinched an 8-7 win after going 9-7 in the tiebreaker.  Flying Dutchmen Justin Fay and Tyler Koran won their No. 3 doubles match, 8-3.

The 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Player, Ian Yi, nearly swept Burkett 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.  At No. 2 singles, Gabe Vidinas notched a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Coates.  Peter Fitzgerald won his No. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-0 against Tyler Stafford.  Johnson earned a 6-4, 6-0 win versus Matt Henkel at No. 4 singles.

Kalamazoo earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.  The first round of the NCAA Championships will begin May 12-13.
