Kalamazoo Captures 2022 MIAA Men's Tennis Championship

FREELAND, Mich. -- After concluding conference play with a perfect 7-0 record, the Kalamazoo College men's tennis program was crowned the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) regular-season champion.  This is the fifth-straight MIAA title for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo is currently ranked seventh in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).  Senior Ian Yi is regionally ranked No. 13 in singles, while the dynamic duo of Yi and junior Peter Fitzgerald is ninth in the Central Region's doubles rankings.

The Hornets have won 56-consecutive regular-season matches.  This season, Kalamazoo dropped just 10 games of 63 played.

The unbeaten Hornets will compete as the top seed in the MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament which will be held May 4 (semifinals) and May 6 (championship).

Joining Kalamazoo in the four-team MIAA Tournament are Hope College (6-1), Trine University (5-2), and Calvin University (4-3).

The Hornets will host fourth-seeded Calvin in the semifinals at 5:00 p.m., while No. 2 Hope will Host No. 3 Trine at 4:00 p.m.  The highest-remaining seed will host the final match on May 6.
