All-MIAA - Men's Tennis - 2021

FREELAND, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the spring 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men's tennis regular season, head coaches from the MIAA's eight member institutions that sponsor men's tennis voted on All-MIAA awards.

Hope sophomore Jacob Burkett was named the 2021 MIAA Most Valuable Player after assisting the Flying Dutchmen to a 6-1 mark in MIAA matches.  Burkett posted a 10-3 record at No. 1 singles, including a perfect 7-0 mark in league matches.  He partnered with Matt Henkel to post a 6-6 record at No. 1 doubles and went 5-1 in conference matches.

Kalamazoo senior Daniel Henry received the Dr. Allen B. Stowe Memorial Award, with leadership quality, exemplification of ethical virtues and sportsmanship taken into consideration.  Henry has played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles for five seasons.  The senior Hornet has been a wonderful example of sportsmanship.  He has been a student ambassador for the Kalamazoo president's staff, is a member of our SAAC committee, and a two-time captain.  Henry will be attending law school in the Fall.  His career records are 63-20 in singles (MIAA 25-1) and 56-27 in doubles (MIAA 56-2).

Senior Isaac Everitt of Trine earned the Dr. Lawrence Green Award, which is a scholar-athlete award named in memory of Dr. Lawrence Green, longtime tennis coach at Hope College.

Henry earned All-MIAA honors for the fourth-straight season.  Kalamazoo's Casey Johnson and Ian Yi are both two-time All-MIAA honorees following this season.
