Kalamazoo's Ian Yi Named All-American by ITA

Kalamazoo College tennis player Ian Yi was announced as a Men's Singles All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on June 18.

The honorific “All-American” title is given to student-athletes that are a top 8 seed in the NCAA singles tournament, win one round at the NCAA singles tournament, or finish in the Top 20 in the final Oracle ITA Rankings.

As a junior at Kalamazoo, Yi concluded the 2021 season with an overall singles record of 8-3 at No. 1 singles and ranked 30th in the Oracle/ITA Division III Men’s National Singles Rankings and 10th in the Central Region Singles Rankings.

Yi was named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) First Team for the second time in his career following a 4-1 mark in conference singles matches this season.  He was also selected the MIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week on March 22.

At the NCAA Division III Singles Championships, Yi nearly swept his opponent 6-1, 6-0 in the Round of 32 before retiring in the Round of 16.
