Kalamazoo captured the MIAA automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship with their 5-1 win over Calvin Friday at Stowe Stadium. It will be the 42nd appearance for the Hornets in the national tournament.
Kalamazoo started with a 2-1 lead with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, including an 8-1 win by Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus in the top slot. From there, the Hornets moved quickly with straight-set wins at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 singles, with the No. 2 singles win by Daniel Henry (6-1, 6-1) deciding the match.
The Hornets await their placement announcement for the NCAA Championship, which will be revealed on ncaa.com Monday, May 8.
