Hope Men's Tennis Takes Three Flights In Loss To Davenport

The Hope College men's tennis team lost to Davenport 6-3 on Tuesday in nonleague play at DeWitt Tennis Center.

The Flying Dutchmen wore blue during the match to honor Peggy Gorno, the wife of former Hope men's tennis coach Steve Gorno and a breast cancer survivor. Peggy Gorno is now battling colon cancer.

Hope earned points in two singles flights and one doubles flight.

At No. 2 singles, freshman Andrew Klein won his match after JP van Antwerpen retired one point into the second set.

At No. 6 singles, junior Sam Kreps of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) defeated Devan Lockington 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 3 doubles, Kreps and freshman Justin Folkert of Hamilton, Michigan (Hamilton HS) beat the pair of Matthew McClurg and Lockington 9-8.

Hope (0-6 overall) returns to action on Tuesday-Friday, March 22-25 with four matches in Orlando, Florida during its annual spring break trip.
