All-MIAA - Men's Swimming & Diving - 2023-24

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the six head coaches selected the 2023-24 All-MIAA honorees.

Calvin University junior David Bajwa was voted the 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer after assisting the Knights to the championship title.  Bajwa participated in three winning relays and notched three individual victories.  On Thursday, Bajwa opened the conference competition as the lead off of the record-breaking 800 free relay (6:37.94).  On day two, Bajwa won the 50 free with a time of 20.09 and anchored the 400 medley relay which broke the MIAA record with a time of 3:13.40.  He continued his winning streak on Friday with a time of 47.69 in the 100 back.  Bajwa also led off Calvin's record-breaking 200 medley relay (1:27.95).  He closed the four-day competition with a record-breaking performance in the 200 back after clocking in at 1:45.42.  Bajwa is now a two-time All-MIAA honoree.

Junior Knight Wil Goodpaster earned the title of 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Diver following his performances last week.  Goodpaster won the one-meter dive with a score of 469.80.  He earned a third-place finish on the three-meter board with a score of 406.40.

In its third year, the Senior Impact Award was created to recognize the men's and women's swimmers and divers that best exemplify the MIAA and Division III in both the classroom and their communities.  On the men's side, Hope College's Justin Kneeshaw was selected as this year's Senior Impact Award recipient.

Throughout his involvement in various initiatives, Kneeshaw has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to making a positive impact in his community.  As a volunteer with Latino Americans United for Progress in their Adelante program, Kneeshaw has helped in supporting and guiding first-generation students towards college opportunities.  Additionally, his participation in George F. Baker Scholars service programs, Residential Life activities, serving as a representative on Student Congress, and participating in the S.E.E.D. Trip to Costa Rica underscores his commitment to service and global citizenship.

Kneeshaw's contributions extend beyond the campus, as he has fundraised for Dance Marathon, volunteered with Adopt A Soldier, and assisted ESL Chinese students as an aid in a local elementary school.  Furthermore, his dedication to managing the social media accounts for the Hope Swimming and Diving team showcases his multifaceted involvement and leadership skills.  In the classroom, Kneeshaw boasts a grade-point average of 3.52.

Hope's Bailey Smith became a five-time All-MIAA honoree, while teammate Ben Catton and Calvin's Julien Camy earned all-conference accolades for their fourth seasons.  Receiving All-MIAA recognition for a third year are Calvin's Forrest Peterson and Joshua Seidelman, along with Hope's Christian Dunaitis and Colin Kalkman.  Bajwa, teammates Caleb Gemmen, Timothy Hays, and Charles Platt, and Hope's Conner Halberg and Ewan Tiongson are now two-time All-MIAA honorees.
