AUSTIN, Tex. -- Three student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were announced as 2022-23 Academic All-Americans® by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on March 21, 2023.

Calvin University junior Forrest Peterson was tabbed First Team Academic All-America®.  The Engineering major boasts a perfect grade-point average of 4.00.  Peterson collected three separate All-America accolades at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships for playing a part in the second-place 200 free relay, the fourth-place 200 medley relay, and the 16th-place 800 free relay.  He also assisted the Knights to the 2023 MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship title and is now a two-time All-MIAA honoree.

Ben Catton, a junior at Hope College, was selected to the Academic All-America® Second Team.  Catton has a grade-point average of 3.95 as a Business/Economics major.  He competed in both the 100 fly and the 100 free at the NCAA Championships last week.  Catton became a three-time All-MIAA swimmer this season following his performance at the 2023 MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Calvin senior Jacob Heeres claimed a spot on the Academic All-America® Third Team.  As a Mechanical Engineering major, Heeres boasts a grade-point average of 3.85.  Heeres earned All-America recognition for six events at this year's NCAA Championships.  He competed in five All-America relays and placed fourth in the 100 free.  After assisting Calvin to the 2023 league title, Heeres became a four-time All-MIAA selection.

Men’s swimming and diving had previously been a part of the men’s at-large team until the 2022-23 season.
