Nine MIAA Programs, 18 Individuals Selected to CSCAA Spring Scholar All-America Teams

Nine programs and 18 student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) earned Scholar All-America recognition from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

The Scholar All-American Team, comprised of 1,206 swimmers and divers this year, recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship.  Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet. All criteria can be found on the CSCAA website.

Hope College was represented by nine student-athletes on the Scholar All-America Team, followed by Calvin University with seven and Kalamazoo College with two student-athletes.  Eleven MIAA swimmers and divers earned First Team recognition, while the remaining seven were named to the Second Team.

The CSCAA selected 731 teams from 441 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2022 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Spring 2022 grade point averages and represent 17,845 student-athletes.

The men's and women's programs from Calvin, Hope, Kalamazoo, and Olivet were all named to the Scholar All-America Team, along with Alma's women's program.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation’s first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
