Albion
Nate Kozycki (100-yard butterfly) and Jake Burris (3-meter diving) achieved first place in their respective events as Albion College finished second out of five teams assembled for a two-day meet at Calvin College.
Alma
Did not compete. Will return to competition Nov. 17 against Calvin.
No. 17 Calvin
Won the Calvin Quad Meet with 916 points. Sophomore Julian Iturbe won the 500 freestyle (4:45.64), 400 IM (4:13.35) and 100 freestyle (46.77). Senior Ben Holstege won the 200 backstroke (1:54.71), 200 IM (1:54.84) and 100 backstroke (50.10). Holstege was MIAA Swimmer of the Week.
Hope
Hope College recorded three of the top six performances in men’s 3-meter diving during a five-team meet at Calvin College on Saturday. Senior Brian Simonich of Highland, Michigan (Milford HS) finished runner-up with 463.35 points. Sophomore Grant Williams of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) placed third with 442.95 points. Freshman Kamaron Wilcos of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central) was sixth with 277.30 points. Sophomore Daniel Keith of Saline, Michigan (Saline HS) clocked a third-place 100-yard freestyle of 48.05 seconds.
Kalamazoo
The Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team defeated Lincoln College 160-70 at East Kentwood High School on Saturday. The Hornets had a number of first place finishers including the 200 Medley Relay (Sakalys-Moore, Anger, Nerhood, Roberts) at 1:40.48, 400 Free Relay (Roberts, Lee, Sood-Mankar, Durden) at 3:20.26, Nick Nerhood (1000 Free and 100 Fly) at 10:46.11 and :56.47, Scott Roberts (200 Free) at 1:50.98, Matt Howrey (400 IM) at 4:22.58, Max Ambs (500 Free) at 5:15.95 and Grant Anger (100 Breast) at 1:01.03. Kalamazoo returns to action Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 at the Calvin Invitational.
Olivet
The Olivet College men's swimming and diving team lost 115-81 to Notre Dame College of Ohio in its first dual meet of the season. Cade Erickson took first-place in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:31.29 and 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.62. Eric Wood won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.55 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.81. He also had the fastest split, :47.98, in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Zachary Knott captured the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.84.
