Albion Finishes 13th at NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

It was a strong showing for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's swimmers and divers at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships March 15-18 at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.

Albion finished the four-day meet with 100 points, placing the Brits 13th at the national championship. Calvin placed 37th at the NCAAs with 12 points, while Hope placed 47th overall with four points.

The Albion 400 Free Relay team of seniors Sebastian Tostado and Derek Bosko, along with freshman Scott Ciemniecki and junior Parker Belmore finished sixth in the final event of the championship, touching in 3:00.48 for All-America honors. The team qualified with a school-record race of 3:00.12 in the prelims.

Albion's Nate Kozycki finished eighth in the 100 Fly Thursday for All-America honors after posting a time of 48.49 in prelims to rank fifth; his championship final time was 48.68.

Albion's Sebastian Tostado placed ninth in the 200 IM Wednesday, winning the consolation final in 1:49.14. He also finished 14th nationally in the 200 free Thursday with a time of 1:39.40 after qualifying with a time of 1:38.88 in the prelims. Tostado's final individual swim, the 100 Free, also resulted in a consolation final qualification; Tostado qualified with a 13th-place time of 44.99 and placed 12th overall with a time of 45.06.

In diving, four MIAA student-athletes competed, with Albion's Jake Burris winning the consolation final in the 1-Meter with a score of 455.05. Both Burris and teammate Henry Swett advanced to the consolation round in both 1-Meter and 3-Meter, with Hope's Jean-luc Miralda finishing 13th nationally in the 3-Meter (458.65).
