Calvin's Wunder, Akintade and Schau Named All-America by United Soccer Coaches

Three Calvin University men's soccer players were named All-Americans by the United Soccer Coaches this week.
 
Daniel Wunder (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) was named First Team All-America by the organization, while Oliver Akintade (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and Chris Schau (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) were each named Second Team All-America.
 
All three players were previously named First Team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches this season, as well as All-MIAA First Team.
 
Daniel Wunder
 
Wunder earned All-America honors for the first time in his career with the Knights followed a strong fifth season as a graduate student. In 21 starts, Wunder posted a 0.71 goals against average (GAA), a .839 save percentage and 10 shutouts.
 
For his career, Wunder is a five-time All-MIAA First Team honoree and also has two All-Region honors (Second Team in 2022, First Team in 2023). In 84 career games, Wunder recorded 37 shutouts and a 0.67 career GAA.
 
Oliver Akintade
 
This marks the third consecutive season in which Akintade was named All-America by the United Soccer Coaches, and the second straight season in which he was named a Second Team All-American.
 
This season, Akintade was named MIAA Most Valuable Player and All-MIAA First Team for the fourth straight season after scoring 13 goals and adding eight assists for 34 total points. He is also a three-time United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region honoree with 39 goals and 99 points in 72 career games.
 
Chris Schau
 
Schau also earned his second straight Second Team All-America honor from the United Soccer Coaches thanks to a stellar fifth season for the Knights. Despite missing four games due to injury, Schau led the Knights in goals (15) and points (36) this season.
 
Along with All-America honors, Schau also received his second straight First Team All-Region recognition to go with his third straight All-MIAA First Team honor. In 2022, Schau was named MIAA Most Valuable Player and finished his career with 37 career goals in 80 games.

Calvin finished the 2023 season with an 18-2-2 record and reached the round of 16 of the NCAA III Tournament. Along the way, the Knights secure their 17th consecutive MIAA regular season championship and finished conference play with a perfect 7-0 record.
