Calvin University senior Colin Iverson has been named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American.

The award is voted upon by an executive United Soccer Coaches Committee and recognizes athletes who have distinguished themselves both on the soccer pitch and in the classroom.

A centerback on defense, Iverson played a key role on a Calvin team that finished 17-3-2 overall and captured MIAA regular season and MIAA Tournament titles while also earning a bid to the NCAA III Tournament.

Iverson helped the Calvin defense post seven shutout victories. He was named to the All-MIAA First Team and later named to the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-Central Region Second Team. Iverson not only helped solidify Calvin's defensive backline but also provided offensive punch. He scored four goals and notched three assists for 11 points. He had a goal and an assist in Calvin's 5-0 first round NCAA III Tournament win over Carnegie Mellon.

In the classroom, Iverson carries a 4.0 grade point average. He is a special education major with a minor in history.

Iverson is the second member of the Calvin men's soccer history in as many years to receive Scholar All-America honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Calvin centerback Drew Van Andel was a United Soccer Coaches All-American last fall.
