Calvin Men's Soccer Player Drew Van Andel Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® Honors

Calvin University men's soccer player Drew Van Andel was named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® 6 Team for his second-straight season.  Van Andel will advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America®.

The 2021 Academic All‐District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  First‐team Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second‐ and third‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in early December.

The Knight defender boasts a grade-point average of 3.57 as an Environmental Sciences and Conservation graduate student.  Van Andel assisted the Knights to the 2021 MIAA regular-season title and the NCAA Division III Tournament's Round of 16.  He was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the fall season and is now a four-time First Team All-MIAA honoree.  Van Andel has also been on the MIAA Honor Roll four times in his career.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.  Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors.  Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
