Calvin Men's Soccer Coaching Staff Named Regional Staff of the Year by United Soccer Coaches

For the second consecutive year, Calvin men's soccer coaching staff led by head coach Ryan Souders has been named the Division III Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches Dec. 6.

Under the direction of Souders and the additional work of assistant coaches Brady Bryant and Stephan Hooker, the Knights went 23-2-1 in 2019, advancing to the national semifinals.

This fall, the Knights captured the MIAA regular season title with an 7-0-0 conference record and then won the MIAA Tournament title with a win over Albion and then a penalty kick decision over Hope in the final. Calvin then defeated UW-Whitewater, St. Norbert, North Park, and Luther in NCAA III Championship play.

Calvin's total of 23 victories marks the sixth consecutive 20-win campaign under Souders. Along with 2018, Souders and his staff were also recognized with United Soccer Coaches Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2015.
