Carter Named Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Olivet College

OLIVET, Mich. – Doug Carter has been named head men's soccer coach at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Director of Athletics Ryan Shockey. Carter will continue to serve as the head coach for the Comets' women's soccer program.

"I am excited about the future of the men's soccer program," said Shockey. "Doug has done a great job at leading our women's soccer team on and off the field the last two years. I am confident his soccer skills, coaching and recruiting will grow both our soccer programs."

Carter has been in charge of all aspects of the women's soccer program at Olivet since July 2018. In his first season as the Comets' head coach in 2018, Olivet had an 8-9-2 record and advanced to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament. In 2019, the Comets posted a 5-8-3 overall record.

Carter came to Olivet after a successful coaching career at Northwood University in Midland. He was the head coach for the men's program from 2001-17, while also leading the women's team from 1998-2010. In 29 combined years, the Wolves posted a 239-246-31 record.

"I am beyond excited to take on an expanded role within the Olivet athletic department," said Carter. "I would like to thank Ryan Shockey for giving me this opportunity to lead both soccer programs. We will be committed to excellence in all aspects of the program, as we look to take both the men's and women's programs to the next level."
