In the first scoreless draw in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Tournament championship game history, the Calvin men's soccer team prevailed, 4-3 in penalty kicks, to earn the MIAA's tournament title and NCAA automatic berth.

Calvin goalkeeper Chris Morrish thwarted two Hope penalties, while the Knights recovered from a first-round miss to convert on four consecutive spot kicks to win the title.

While the scoreless draw was the first in tournament championship history, Saturday's title tilt was the third in MIAA history and first since 2014 to be decided by penalty kicks. 

Morrish did not make a save in the shutout, while Hope goalkeeper Blair McCormick gathered four saves. 

The tournament title is the sixth consecutive for the Knights, and seventh overall since the MIAA Men's Soccer Tournament began in 2011.

The 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship field will be announced Monday, Nov. 11 on ncaa.com.
