• Adrian coupled a 3-2 overtime win at Hope Oct. 3 with a 3-1 road win over Olivet Oct. 7 to move up the MIAA standings last week. Against Hope, Zach Combs (So., F, Berkley, Mich.) converted on a penalty kick just 27 seconds into overtime to score the game's decisive goal.
• With Tanner Parrett (So., M, Muskegon, Mich.) shaking the nets in the 76th minute, Alma earned their first MIAA win of the season with a 1-0 shutout over Albion Oct. 7.
• Calvin remained undefeated on the 2017 season with two MIAA victories last week, defeating Calvin Oct. 3, 5-0, and Trine Oct. 7, 6-1. Bobby McCaw (Jr., F, Dubuque, Iowa) extended his consecutive game streak with at least one goal to eight contests with a hat trick against Albion and two scores in the win against Trine.
• Kalamazoo tallied one win on the week, defeating Olivet 3-1 during a mid-week contest. The Hornets were then weathered out against Hope Oct. 7.
• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for Oct. 9 were:
- Defense: Sean Cain, Adrian
- Offense: Bobby McCaw, Calvin
• Calvin moved into the #1 position in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings for Oct. 10, while Calvin (No. 1) ranked in the Central Region, and Adrian is receiving votes.
