While only two teams went 2-0 on the week in MIAA play, there were plenty of notables from the week's action:
• Adrian, fresh off their upset victory over Calvin last weekend, kept their momentum with a 2-0 against MIAA challengers to move into sole possession of second place. The Bulldogs took care of business Tuesday with a 3-1 win at home over Trine, as Tad Davis (So., F, Trenton, Mich.) scored in the eighth and 70th minutes to lift Adrian. That victory set up a showdown for second place with Albion on Saturday, where the Bulldogs prevailed on the road, 1-0. Mitchell Metzger (Fr., M, Grand Blanc, Mich.) scored the game's lone goal in the 67th minute on an assist by Davis, while Spencer Brown (Fr., GK, Monroe, Mich.) made three saves to preserve the shutout.
• #25 Calvin extended their lead on the MIAA field with two conference wins last week. The Knights started with a 5-1 home win over Hope Oct. 11, as Ian Adams (Fr., M, Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Isky Van Doorne (Sr., M, Calgary, Alberta) both scored twice for Calvin. On Saturday, Van Doorne struck again with what proved to be the game-winner in a 2-0 road win at Kalamazoo. The Knights allowed just five shots by the Hornets in the shutout victory, the ninth of the season for Calvin.
• Alma went into extra time twice on the week, but a 2-1 setback to Kalamazoo Oct. 11 dropped the Scots out of second place. Alma then responded with a 1-0 double-overtime win against Olivet Oct. 15 to tally their 10th win of the season.
• With Albion's win over Olivet Oct. 11, the Brits matched its highest MIAA win total since 2008.
