The MIAA Men's Soccer Tournament final game is set after semifinal action Thursday afternoon:
Calvin 7, Albion 1
After an early goal by Albion, #20 Calvin answered with seven goals to defeat the Brits at Zuidema Soccer Field and earn the right to host Saturday's tournament final. Ian Adams (Fr., M, Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored twice for Calvin, including what proved to be the game-winner in the 31st minute, to pace the Knights. Calvin out-shot Albion 27-9; the Knights' defense, anchored by Nate Van Ryn (Jr., GK, Grandville, Mich.) allowed just five shots on goal.
Alma 1, Adrian 0 (OT)
Kyle Farmer (Fr., F, Greenville, Mich.) scored in overtime to give Alma a 1-0 victory at home against Adrian Thursday afternoon to advance the Scots to the title game for the second straight season. Farmer's goal in the 94th minute gave Alma their ninth 1-0 victory this season. Alma's defense fended off 10 shots and four shots on goal for the shutout.
