Ten MIAA student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors from CoSIDA

FREELAND, Mich. – Ten student-athletes representing the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on the soccer field were recognized Thursday for their success both on the field and in the classroom with the release of the College Sports Information Directors of America's Academic All-District teams.

Five men's players and five women's players on seven MIAA soccer teams were named First-team Academic All-District performers, and all 10 will advance to their respective national ballot to be considered for Academic All-America. Student-athletes must have sophomore academic standing at their institutions and have a cumulative grade-point average at 3.20 or higher.

For the men, Albion's Andrew Prince (Sr., D, Ann Arbor, Mich.), Alma's Kyle Kansman (Sr., D, Farmington Hills, Mich.), and Calvin's trio of David Waterson (Sr., D, DeWitt, Mich.), Stephan Hooker (Sr., M, Hudsonville, Mich.), and Jacob Witte (So., F, Grand Rapids, Mich.) were all honored. On the women's side, Calvin's Kailey Jo (Sr., D, Grand Rapids, Mich.), Hope's Elizabeth Perkins (Sr., F, Eaton Rapids, Mich.), Kalamazoo's Grace Smith (Sr., GK, Portage, Mich.) and Christina Dandar (Jr., D, Harrison Twp., Mich.), and Olivet's Isabelle Leon (Jr., F, Grand Rapids, Mich.) were award winners.
