DELAWARE, Ohio – Bobby Budlong produced his first hat trick at the collegiate level Saturday. Albion College needed all three goals to subdue Capital University, 3-2, in overtime.
Budlong scored with 33 seconds remaining in the first half and in the 58th minute as Albion seized a 2-0 lead.
Capital forced overtime with goals by Cameron Bryant and Cheyn Roux. Roux struck with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.
Budlong produced his fourth game-winning goal as a Briton in the 96th minute on a shot from 25 yards out.
Budlong was credited with eight of Albion's 22 shots in the contest. Evan Schweizer took four shots and Steven Lockhart had three.
Albion, 2-0 on the young season, will challenge Ohio Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. Sunday.
