Britons fall to powerful Ohio Wesleyan side

DELAWARE, Ohio – Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Kraft collected seven saves to give Albion College a chance against an Ohio Wesleyan University side that is expected to make a run at the NCAA Division III Tournament in November.

Despite Mitchell Palmer scoring his first goal at the collegiate level for Albion, Ohio Wesleyan got goals from three different players to knock off the Britons, 3-1, in the second round of the Fred Myers-adidas Invitational.

Brian Schaefer pounced on a loose ball in the box for Ohio Wesleyan's first half goal, and David Robinett and Jack Shadoan struck in the second half.

Palmer got his head on a corner kick by Joey Zaremski for the Albion goal. The Britons trailed 2-1 when Palmer scored in the 61st minute.

Shadoan scored 12 ½ minutes later to put the game out of reach.

Jason Inglis and Evan Schweizer also placed shots on goal for the Britons.

Albion, 2-1 after the first week of the season, will travel to Illinois for matches against Elmhurst College (Sept. 11) and North Park University (Sept. 12).
