Cameron Named Alma College's 5th Head Men's Lacrosse Coach

Alma, MI - Alma College has hired Zach Cameron as the Scots' next Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, as announced by Vice President/Director of Athletics Sarah Dehring on July 7th.

"We are very excited to welcome Zach to Alma College." said Dehring.

"Zach shows a lot of potential as a head coach, and we are excited to see what direction he takes this program in moving forward. With experience at Kalamazoo, he knows the competitive landscape of the MIAA lacrosse scene. We look forward to seeing how he can grow the program, both in numbers, and in developing the talent that we already have on the roster."

Cameron comes to the Scots from fellow MIAA institution Kalamazoo College, where he served as an Assistant Coach.

"I want to start out by thanking Sarah Dehring, President Abernathy, the search committee, and my colleagues for this opportunity.  I am extremely honored to accept the position of head men's lacrosse coach at Alma College.  I am excited to work with our student athletes to achieve their goals in the classroom, in the community, and on the field.  I look forward to joining the Alma College family.  Go Scots!"

Cameron had spent the past 5 seasons with Kalamazoo College. Cameron gained experience as both an Offensive and Defensive Coordinator. He also served as the recruiting coordinator, helping to grow the team from 17 players to to 31 in 2023. K saw their most successful season in program history in 2023. The Hornets totaled 7 wins, and qualified for the MIAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Cameron also coaches club lacrosse. He spent 6 years coaching with Coalition Lacrosse in Ann Arbor, Michigan. More recently he has been coaching with True Lacrosse in the Summers. From 2011-19, he ran his own lacrosse camps in Saline, Michigan.
 
Cameron graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2019 with a Graduate Bachelor's of Science in Phsycial Education, with a minor in Health Education. From there, he would go on to Western Michigan University, graduating with a Masters in Coaching Sports Performance in 2021.
