ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University Athletic Director Matt Land announced the hiring of Ryan Kuhn as the head coach of Thunder men's lacrosse. Kuhn becomes the fourth head coach in program history.

"We are ecstatic for the level of experience that Ryan brings to Trine men's lacrosse," said Land, "I am excited to see what his experience with building new programs can accomplish with our already established team."

Kuhn's most recent stop was at Heidelberg University where he served as head coach of the women's program, a position which he held for one season. During that season he led the team to a 4-0 record before the season was cut short due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Before taking the reins at Heidelberg, Kuhn spent a season as an assistant coach at Shoreham Wading River High School where he led the team to a New York State Championship, finishing 13th in the country and second among public school competition.

"I am excited for the opportunity and the challenges ahead for the Trine men's lacrosse program," said Kuhn, "The combination of academics and institutional support was something that really stood out to me. I am looking forward to building on the solid foundation already in place at Trine."

Kuhn established the lacrosse program at NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. In just four years, Kuhn led the Railsplitters from an inaugural season to a national contender. In his final season as head coach (2018), the team finished 14-4 breaking into the national rankings.

In his four seasons Kuhn coached 14 student-athletes to All-South Atlantic Conference honors, including 11 over his final two seasons alone. He finished the four-year tenure with a 32-27 record.

"I would like to thank Coach Land and the Trine University Administration for the opportunity," finished Kuhn, "I am thrilled to be a part of the Thunder family."

Kuhn received an MBA from Lincoln Memorial University in 2017 and completed his undergraduate degree at Manhattanville College in 2007. He resides in Defiance, Ohio with his wife Rachelle and daughter Riley.
